Kerala has set out Vision 2031, a long-term policy framework to turn the State into a knowledge-driven, socially just and democratically vibrant society by its 75th year of statehood. It was unveiled at the 'Vision 2031: International Conference on Development and Democracy' held in Thiruvananthapuram. The vision stresses participatory governance, evidence-based policy and public consultation. Its key areas are the knowledge economy, environmental sustainability, quality jobs, social justice and stronger local governance. Follow-up steps include legislative reforms and converting conference recommendations into projects through government agencies.
