India exports Akash Air Defence System to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan

As of 1 October 2026, India has exported the Akash Air Defence System to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Akash is an indigenous short- to medium-range surface-to-air missile system developed by the DRDO and manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). It can engage fighter aircraft, cruise missiles, guided munitions and unmanned aerial vehicles. Armenia was the first foreign buyer of the Akash system.
