Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unveiled the Indian Army's Land Warfare Doctrine 2026 at the Army Commanders' Conference in New Delhi. Drawing lessons from the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Iran-US conflict and Operation Sindoor, it highlights drones, surveillance, contested communications and information warfare. The doctrine emphasises Artificial Intelligence (AI), precision warfare, multi-domain operations, advanced technology and jointness among the services, along with Atmanirbharta, indigenous defence capability, resilient logistics, human leadership and man-unmanned teaming. The Army will roll out a five-year multi-domain training roadmap, a three-level AI skilling programme for officers, and drone operations as a secondary skill.
