US-based healthcare group Walgreens will open a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai, with Tamil Nadu Guidance acting as the State's nodal investment agency. Tamil Nadu hosts more than 450 GCCs, about 10–15% of India's GCC ecosystem, and ranks as the third-largest GCC hub after Karnataka and Telangana. A GCC is a company-owned unit in another country that carries out work such as software development, data analysis and research.
