Tamil Nadu will replace the 87-year-old Tamil Nadu Public Health Act, 1939 with a modern, comprehensive law to meet present and future health challenges. A new provision will make unsupervised home births outside hospitals a punishable offence. The Budget also announced Bluetooth-enabled BP monitors for pregnant women with real-time data transmission, a first-ever Peri-Menopausal Care Policy with weekly camps at all PHCs and Urban PHCs, free year-round insulin for children under 18 with Type 1 diabetes, and the 'Irumbu Kanmani' school anaemia prevention programme costing ₹6.37 crore.
