The Tamil Nadu Government has amended the Tamil Nadu Private Schools (Regulation) Rules, 2023, to curb certain activities in private schools.
- Schools may not hold programmes that are political, ideological, communal or divisive.
- No outside person, association or organisation may use school premises for meetings, campaigns or activities unconnected to education.
- Activities spreading disharmony or hatred based on religion, caste, race, community, language or ideology are banned.
- Cultural events, social service programmes, blood donation camps and commemorative functions are allowed only if non-political and non-sectarian, and with prior government permission.
