Indian Railways has cleared India's first indigenous 10-coach train powered by hydrogen fuel cells for operation on the Jind–Sonipat route in Haryana. The train was developed by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO). Since fuel cells combine hydrogen with oxygen to produce electricity, the train emits only water vapour and heat, making it a zero-emission substitute for diesel trains and a step towards greener rail transport.
