India and Vietnam have agreed to celebrate next year as the "Year of India-Vietnam Friendship", marking 55 years of diplomatic ties. Vietnam is a key partner in India's Act East Policy and in Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) for the Indo-Pacific, as well as within India's Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN. The two countries have elevated ties to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, making Vietnam the first country in the region at that level. India has also signed a deal to supply BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to Vietnam. Their joint military exercise is VINBAX.
