Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation in Kerala has deployed an Artificial Intelligence-enabled robot named G-SPIDER at the Amayizhanchan canal. The robot is being used under Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 to remove debris from the canal. By using a machine for this hazardous work, the corporation aims to avoid manual scavenging, which exposes workers to serious health and safety risks. The initiative shows how robotics and AI can be applied to urban sanitation and to protect the dignity of sanitation workers.
