SCO adopts Bishkek Declaration at 26th Summit, condemns terrorism

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) adopted the Bishkek Declaration at its 26th Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. It condemned terrorism in every form, rejected double standards, and called for action against terror financing, recruitment, radicalisation and safe havens, with a central UN role. It backed a diplomatic solution in West Asia and respect for Iran's sovereignty.

Vice President releases Mission Rangeen Machhli 2031 for ornamental fisheries

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan launched Mission Rangeen Machhli 2031, a Strategic Action Plan for developing India's ornamental fish sector, at Agatti in Lakshadweep. Implemented by the Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, it spans the full value chain from breeding and hatcheries to quarantine, disease control, certification, transport and exports.

TN Assembly resolution seeks Tamil as principal language of Madras High Court

The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution urging the Centre to recognise Tamil as the principal language of the Madras High Court. Article 348(2) permits a State's official language in High Court proceedings with the President's prior consent. The resolution seeks Tamil for petitions, arguments and judgments, plus legal-Tamil and translation training for judges and court staff.

Supreme Court directs Tamil Nadu to frame transit rules for purse seine vessels to EEZ

The Supreme Court asked Tamil Nadu to draft rules allowing fishing vessels with purse seine nets to pass from territorial waters into the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The State must designate a navigation channel under the Tamil Nadu Marine Fishing Regulation Rules, 2020.

Bill introduced to set up Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Commission

A Bill amending the Tamil Nadu Business Facilitation Act, 2018 was tabled in the State Assembly to create the Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Commission (TNIPC) under a new Section 16-A. The Chief Secretary will chair it, with the Industries Secretary as Member-Convener and up to 20 members.

New scorpion species Liocheles gracilipalpus described from Shivalik Hills, Jammu and Kashmir

Researchers have discovered and formally described a new scorpion species, Liocheles gracilipalpus, from the Shivalik Hills in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir. It belongs to the Hormuridae family and was found at an elevation of 1,655 metres above sea level.
