A Bill amending the Tamil Nadu Business Facilitation Act, 2018 was tabled in the State Assembly to create the Tamil Nadu Investment Promotion Commission (TNIPC) under a new Section 16-A. The Chief Secretary will chair it, with the Industries Secretary as Member-Convener and up to 20 members. It will oversee strategic projects worth ₹200 crore or more, or those generating at least 5,000 jobs, cut clearance time under 22 State laws to 21 days, issue binding directions to departments, and review unused land allotted by SIPCOT, TIDCO, SIDCO, ELCOT and TAHDCO.
