Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan launched Mission Rangeen Machhli 2031, a Strategic Action Plan for developing India's ornamental fish sector, at Agatti in Lakshadweep. Implemented by the Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, it spans the full value chain from breeding and hatcheries to quarantine, disease control, certification, transport and exports. It aims for uniform procedures, quality assurance, biosecurity and traceability, and better skills and market access for farmers and traders. Lakshadweep is already identified as a dedicated seaweed cluster.
