The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is set to inaugurate Ranipet district's first car manufacturing unit at the SIPCOT industrial complex in Panapakkam. It will be the first facility in India to make luxury Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) models. JLR is owned by Tata Motors and is focusing on electric vehicles.
Noted educationist S.S. Rajagopalan has died. He was part of the committee that designed Samacheer Kalvi, Tamil Nadu's uniform system of school education. He also served on the technical committee of the All-India Forum for Right to Education and was known for his long advocacy of equitable public schooling.
The Union Budget 2026-27 introduced a new scheme to create a Buddhist Circuit in the north-eastern States. Snow settled on the interior desert of Saudi Arabia's Al-Jawf region for the first time on record, around November-December 2025, following heavy rain and hail. An early 8th-century CE inscription in Telugu has been found at Pitikayagulla in Andhra Pradesh. Written in early Telugu script, it shows the language emerging from Prakrit influence into an independent tongue. The record describes the building of a new embankment called 'nava katta', credited to Pranimilli Achari, thought to be a sculptor or craftsman.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has released details of a new Consumer Price Index series, moving the base year from 2011-12 to 2023-24. The revision draws on the Household Consumption Expenditure Survey 2023-24. In the new basket, the weight of food and beverages falls from about 46% to around 37%, reflecting changing household spending.
