Snow settled on the interior desert of Saudi Arabia's Al-Jawf region for the first time on record, around November-December 2025, following heavy rain and hail. A cold weather system moving in from the Mediterranean brought temperatures close to 0°C. Snow was also reported in parts of the Al-Nafud desert and areas near the UAE. Northern highlands such as Tabuk get winter snow, but snowfall in Al-Jawf's inland deserts is extremely unusual.
