Scientists at the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS), Bengaluru, have developed a wearable ammonia sensor with very high sensitivity. The device can detect the toxic gas in real time, allowing people exposed to ammonia to be warned quickly. Such sensors can be useful for worker safety and environmental monitoring in settings where ammonia leaks pose a health risk.
