The Government of India has notified the country's first standards covering cloud computing, data centre performance and Ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) issued them under the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018.
- They are aligned with frameworks of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
- A Cooling Efficiency Ratio (CER) is introduced to assess how well data centres are cooled.
- The AI standards promote ethical principles such as transparency and reduction of bias.
