The Union Minister for Science and Technology inaugurated the BIRAC-BioNEST Incubation Centre at the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI). BIRAC stands for Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council.
The centre is meant to support startups working in food technology and biotechnology. Placing an incubator inside a national food research institute is expected to help young entrepreneurs draw on scientific expertise and turn laboratory research into products for the market.
