India's 51st Doppler Weather Radar (DWR) was inaugurated at Sambalpur in Odisha. A DWR uses radio waves to track where rainfall and severe weather are, how they move and how intense they are. With this, Odisha now has three DWRs, located at Sambalpur, Gopalpur and Paradip.
