Three cubs were born to Gamini, a cheetah brought from South Africa, at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh, taking India's cheetah count to 38. The number of cubs born in India has now reached 27. Project Cheetah began in 2022-23 with 20 animals moved from Namibia and South Africa. The cheetah was declared extinct in India in 1952 and returned after about 70 years.
