Himachal Pradesh reported that every reintroduced Cheer Pheasant survived in 2024–25, up from a survival rate of 11.11% in 2019–20. During Wildlife Week in October 2026, 12 captive-bred birds were soft-released at Moi Jubbar, close to Koti in Shimla district — the programme's third release site after Seri and Shilli-Mehli. The Cheer Pheasant (Catreus wallichii), known locally as Chir Tittar, is Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List and protected under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The Khadiyun Cheer Pheasant Breeding Centre is at Chail in Solan district. Forest fires, grazing and fodder collection are degrading the bird's habitat.
