Meeshapulimala in Kerala's Idukki district was opened to visitors as Neelakurinji (Strobilanthes kunthiana) reached full bloom on its high-altitude slopes. Meeshapulimala ranks among the highest peaks of the Munnar region. This flowering is seen as rare, since Neelakurinji generally does not bloom at heights above 2,500 metres.
