Every year on 5 October, the world marks World Teachers' Day. The occasion honours the work teachers do, draws public attention to the difficulties they face in their profession, and pushes for stronger support to be given to them. The 2026 observance carries the theme "Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures", a theme that looks back on six decades of efforts to safeguard and raise the standing of the teaching profession.
