World Pangolin Day, first held in 2012 and marked on the third Saturday of February, fell on 21 February 2026. It raises awareness about protecting pangolins and fighting the illegal wildlife trade, which makes them among the most trafficked mammals. All eight pangolin species are in Appendix I of CITES, and two of them, the Indian pangolin and the Chinese pangolin, occur in India.
