The World Nuclear Association's World Nuclear Outlook Report 2026 estimates that global nuclear capacity could touch 1,446 GWe by 2050, surpassing the 1,200 GWe goal set under the Declaration to Triple Nuclear Energy. China, France, India, Russia and the United States together could account for about 980 GWe, the bulk of the world total. The report backs nuclear power as a low-carbon partner to renewables for long-term decarbonisation and energy security, and calls for electricity market reforms to support fair growth.
