The World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is observed every year on July 30 to raise awareness about human trafficking and to protect the victims of such exploitation. Human trafficking involves recruiting, moving or holding people through force, fraud or coercion for purposes such as forced labour, sexual exploitation or forced criminal activity. The theme for 2026 is "Trapped Behind the Scam", drawing attention to people who are lured with false job offers and then forced to work in online fraud operations, a growing concern for many countries, including India.
