World Cotton Day is marked every year on 7 October. The day highlights why cotton matters and recognises how the crop supports livelihoods, trade and economic development around the world. For 2026, the observance carries the theme "Cotton for Good: Building Prosperity Through Trade, Transformation and Partnership." The theme links cotton to prosperity and points to three routes for achieving it: trade in the commodity, transformation of the sector, and partnership among those who grow, process and trade it.
