World Cerebral Palsy Day falls on 6 October and is meant to build awareness of the condition and encourage inclusion. The 2026 theme is "Unique and United". Cerebral palsy refers to a group of conditions that disturb movement, balance and posture, caused by injury to the brain or abnormal growth of the brain while it is still developing. The most common form is spastic cerebral palsy; the others are dyskinetic, ataxic and mixed types. It lasts for life and does not get worse, though a person's symptoms and the support they need may shift over time.
