World Arthritis Day was observed on 12 October 2026 under the theme “Achieve Your Dreams.” The day encourages early diagnosis, correct treatment and support for those living with arthritis, a joint disorder that can bring pain, swelling, stiffness and restricted movement. It is not limited to older people: children and young adults can also be affected. Osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gout are among the common forms. Causes differ by type and can include wear and tear of joints, autoimmune responses, genetic factors and earlier injuries.
