WHO Prequalifies CERVAVAC, First Indian-made Quadrivalent HPV Vaccine

Save

The World Health Organization (WHO) has granted prequalification to CERVAVAC, the first quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine made in India to earn this status. A quadrivalent vaccine protects against four types of the virus. HPV infection is the leading cause of cervical cancer, one of the most common cancers among Indian women. WHO prequalification certifies that a vaccine meets international standards of quality, safety and efficacy, which allows United Nations agencies and other global buyers to procure it. The recognition is expected to widen access to an affordable HPV vaccine in India and abroad.
