Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan released India's first non-GMO (non-Genetically Modified Organism) hybrid seed of high-expansion popcorn maize. The launch took place at Musunuru in Eluru district, Andhra Pradesh. The indigenous hybrid was developed in association with Gourmet Popcornica for high-expansion popcorn production, reducing dependence on imported popcorn varieties.
