Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve Becomes India's Third Cheetah Reintroduction Site

Save
Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve (VDTR) in Madhya Pradesh has been developed as India's third designated site for bringing back cheetahs under Project Cheetah. The reserve was created by merging the Nauradehi and Durgavati Wildlife Sanctuaries and spreads across Sagar, Damoh and Narsinghpur districts in the Bundelkhand region. It was notified as a Tiger Reserve in September 2023 with the approval of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). Its large mix of grassland and forest is expected to allow cheetahs, tigers, leopards and Indian wolves to live alongside one another.
