The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has cleared a proposal to give a new name to the Noida International Airport being developed at Jewar. Under the proposal, the airport will be called Narendra Modi International Airport. Located in the National Capital Region, the Jewar airport is planned as a major new aviation hub that will ease pressure on Delhi's existing airport. A State Cabinet decision is the first step; renaming an airport formally also requires the approval of the Union government, which takes the final decision on airport names.
