For the first time, the United States has moved a micro nuclear reactor by air, flying it aboard a military cargo aircraft. Micro reactors are small, advanced nuclear power units, and they typically generate up to 10 megawatts of electricity. Because of their compact size, they are regarded as a portable source of energy that can be relocated where power is needed. The airlift showed that such a reactor can be carried by a cargo plane, marking a first for the country in transporting this kind of nuclear unit.
