The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will fund a National Drug Use Survey for 2025-26, covering about 20 lakh people in every State and Union Territory. For the first time, it will record traditional and local forms of substance use and include prisoners as well as school and college students. The findings will support the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. Fieldwork should end by late 2026, and the report is due in 2027.
