In a major administrative restructuring engineered to consolidate the subcontinent's digital public infrastructure (DPI) and deep-tech scaling frameworks, the Union Government has officially appointed IAS officer Saurabh Vijay as the Chief Executive Officer of the IndiaAI Mission. The 1998-batch Maharashtra cadre officer, who recently assumed charge as the Chief Executive Officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), will now hold the apex AI chair as an additional institutional charge.

The 10,372 Crore IndiaAI Blueprint and CPGRAMS Samadhan Didi Launch

The centralized tech management layout bridges national computing grid deployment with advanced multi-lingual citizen service platforms:

  • Unified Digital Infrastructure Command: Handled under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Trade (MeitY), this high-level realignment brings the **sovereign digital identity network and the ₹10,372 crore IndiaAI Mission ecosystem under unified leadership**, accelerating secure data-driven governance layers.
  • Scaling Shared Compute and GPUs: As the head of the mission, Vijay will direct the rollout of massive infrastructure initiatives—including the deployment of **more than 38,000 GPUs to build shared compute centers** and the selection of 12 academic consortia to engineer indigenous foundational Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Samadhan Didi AI Voice Bot Rollout: Boosting citizen redressal mechanics during the same cycle, the Center launched the **AI-enabled 'Samadhan Didi' voice bot via the CPGRAMS portal**, allowing residents to natively register, file, and track public complaints paperlessly using localized regional dialects.
  • Air India and Riyadh Air Strategic Pact: Enhancing international transit connectivity alongside these tech expansions, a strategic **MoU was finalized between Air India and Riyadh Air to link South Asia and the Gulf region**, establishing seamless codeshare grids and trade channels.
