The Union Government has chosen two teachers from Tamil Nadu for the National Teachers' Award 2026. They are M Thangaraj of Tenkasi and J Amudha, Headmistress of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Madurai. Thangaraj was recognised for upgrading school infrastructure and bringing in activity-based learning. Amudha was honoured for her work in promoting education and National Cadet Corps (NCC) activities during her years of service in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).
