The Madras High Court rejected an election petition against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA R. Seenivasa Sethupathy's one-vote victory from Tirupattur constituency in Sivaganga district in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election. Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan dismissed the plea of DMK candidate and former Minister K.R. Periakaruppan, who alleged that a postal ballot meant for constituency No. 185 was wrongly sent to constituency No. 50 in Tirupattur district. The court noted that the constituency number and Form 13C details identify postal ballots, which are first deposited at facilitation centres under Rule 18A of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, and found no evidence that any irregularity materially affected the result.
