THE Asia University Rankings 2026: India Leads in Representation
The 14th edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings 2026 was released in April 2026. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru emerged as the top-ranked Indian institution, securing the 43rd rank in Asia with a score of 65.1. While IISc dropped from 38th in 2025, it remains the only Indian institute in the top 50.
Global and Regional Leaders:
- 1st Place: Tsinghua University (China) for the 8th consecutive year.
- 2nd Place: Peking University (China).
- 3rd Place: National University of Singapore (NUS).
- Joint 4th Place: Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and the University of Tokyo (Japan).
Key Statistical Highlights:
India has the highest representation in the rankings with 128 universities, followed by Japan (115) and Turkey (109). China continues to dominate the top 10 with five institutions. For TNPSC and SSC aspirants, this highlights the growth of the Indian higher education ecosystem on the global stage.
