The Tamil Nadu government withdrew the Tamil Nadu Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which had proposed turning existing private or government-aided colleges into 'Brownfield Universities' and cutting the minimum land requirement from 100 acres to 25 acres in corporation areas, 35 acres in municipalities or town panchayats, and 50 acres elsewhere. The 2023 amendment Bill was withdrawn as well. In the same session the Assembly passed the Appropriation (Vote on Account) Bill and the Fiscal Responsibility (Amendment) Bill.
