Tamil Nadu registered 33 deceased organ donors in January 2026, its best-ever monthly figure. Government Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital, a Non-Transplant Organ Retrieval Centre, led with five donors, followed by Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai, with four. The State had 266 brain-dead donors in 2025 and 42 in the first 43 days of 2026. The programme is coordinated by the Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu, and G.O. 331 of 2023 accords State honours to brain-dead donors.
