The Tamil Nadu government has increased the monthly financial support given to children affected by HIV/AIDS, with the revised rates applicable from November 2026. An HIV-positive child who is a double orphan will get ₹3,000 a month, and one with a single surviving parent ₹2,000. Children with HIV who live with their parents, and children without HIV who have lost both parents to HIV/AIDS, will get ₹1,500 a month. An extra ₹1.21 crore has been set aside to fund the enhancement, helping meet the children's needs for nutrition, schooling and uninterrupted treatment.
