The Tamil Nadu government has issued a Government Order (G.O.) to regulate cosmetology, aesthetics and hair transplant clinics in the State. Every such clinic must now register under the Tamil Nadu Clinical Establishments Act in order to operate. The order follows guidelines framed by the National Medical Commission (NMC), and allows hair transplant and aesthetic procedures to be performed only by qualified dermatologists or plastic surgeons. Private clinical establishments in the State are governed by the Tamil Nadu Private Clinical Establishments (Regulation) Act, 1997.
