Tamil Nadu CM to Shift Office to 10th Floor of Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai at Fort St. George

Save

Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister has decided to move the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) to the 10th floor of Namakkal Kavignar Maaligai within the Fort St. George campus, Chennai, because of space constraints. The CM currently works from the main block of the 17th-century fort.

The 10-storey building, planned in 1973, was opened on 14 August 1975 by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and named after poet Namakkal Kavignar V. Ramalingam Pillai. Fort St. George was built by the British East India Company in 1644 and later became the seat of the Madras Presidency.
