The 5th Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan Awards 2026 were presented on Swachh Vayu Diwas 2026 to the best-performing cities and wards under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). Lucknow came first among cities with over 10 lakh people, ahead of Indore and Jabalpur. Rourkela in Odisha led the 3-10 lakh category and Kalinganagar, also in Odisha, topped the below-3 lakh group. The survey covers 130 NCAP cities and examines road-dust control, waste management and vehicle and industrial emissions. In 2025-26, PM10 levels fell in 108 of 130 cities, with 26 achieving more than 40% reduction.
