R. Gokuleswaran, 39, a resident of the Sri Lankan Tamils Rehabilitation Camp at Kottapattu in Tiruchi district, will vote for the first time as an Indian citizen in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections. His sister-in-law, K. Nalini, 40, became the first naturalised Indian from the Kottapattu camp to vote, in 2024. She had received Indian citizenship in 2022 after establishing it before the Madras High Court, and then obtained a voter identity card.
