The Sikkim Chief Minister announced that Pakyong Airport, the only airport in the State, will be renamed Trilochan Pokhrel Airport in honour of the freedom fighter. Trilochan Pokhrel, also known as 'Gandhi Pokhrel', was Sikkim's first independence activist. He took part in the Non-Cooperation Movement (1920-22), the Civil Disobedience Movement (1930-34) and the Quit India Movement (1942).
