The Rusty-Spotted Cat has been documented for the first time in the National Chambal Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh. Known scientifically as Prionailurus rubiginosus, it is among the smallest wild cat species found in Asia. The new record extends the known distribution of the species and highlights the biodiversity value of the Chambal landscape, a protected area better known for gharials, dolphins and turtles.
