Fifth-Generation Aviation Indigenisation: ADA and DRDO Build Core Flight Testing and Integration Complex

In a historic development positioning South India at the center of global stealth aviation engineering, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, alongside Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, laid the foundation stone for the **₹15,803 crore Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) Programme Facility** at Puttaparthi in the Sri Sathya Sai district. Spanning across a massive 650-acre aerospace zone, the mega-facility introduces critical infrastructure designed to mature India's flagship indigenous fifth-generation fighter program.

The Technical Architecture and Strategic Capabilities

The Puttaparthi facility functions as the definitive nerve center for validating and integrating the high-stakes stealth jet platform, moving prototype blueprints toward active assembly line rollouts:

  • Core Flight Testing Complex: The infrastructure layout houses the specialized **Core Integration & Flight Testing Centre**, engineered at an initial cost of approximately ₹2,000 crore by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). This complex removes past dependencies on foreign testing airbases.
  • Stealth Fighter Capabilities: The AMCA aircraft features internal weapon bays carrying up to 1,500kg of precision munitions (with an additional 5,500kg payload externally), advanced composite radar-evading skins, twin-engine supercruise performance metrics, and high-throughput integrated avionics dashboards.
  • Regional Defense Ecosystem Expansion: The defense corridor includes adjacent grounding ceremonies for the **Defence Energetics Facility** backed by Bharat Forge (investing ₹1,500 crore) and a specialized **Ammunition & Electric Fuses Plant** by HFCL worth ₹1,294 crore at Madakasira, converting the Rayalaseema belt into an aerospace manufacturing hub capable of generating 7,500 high-skilled jobs.

For TNPSC and Civil Services Security candidates, this defense hub represents a premier study milestone under 'Science & Tech Indigenisation, Advanced Materials, Aerospace Engineering, and Modern Defense Procurement'.
