The proposed Shree Jagannath International Airport at Puri in Odisha has received Stage-I forest clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The clearance was granted on 1 April 2026 for the diversion of about 27.886 hectares of forest land for the project. Stage-I approval is an in-principle clearance given before the final go-ahead. The airport is expected to improve air connectivity for Puri, a major pilgrimage and tourism centre in Odisha.
