The Government of India has unveiled Pragati and Vikas as the mascots of Census 2027 to raise public awareness and encourage participation. Pragati represents a female enumerator and Vikas a male enumerator, together symbolising equal roles for women and men in nation-building. Census 2027 will be the country's first fully digital census, with data collected through mobile applications and digital platforms. It will be carried out in two phases: House Listing and Housing Census (HLO), followed by Population Enumeration (PE).
